Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduced the newest member of the MAXQÂ® RISC microcontroller product line: the mixed-signal microcontroller SoC (system on chip) MAXQ7667 for ultrasonic testing. As a highly integrated DAS (Data Acquisition System), this SoC provides a cost-effective solution for remote measurement of weak signals or multi-target recognition applications. The integrated functions of the device allow designers to add intelligent functions to cost-sensitive sensor signal conditioning systems. The MAXQ7667 is optimized for automotive sensor systems such as EPA (Electronic Parking Assist) and PDC (Parking Distance Control). The device is also ideal for industrial processing, automation, and handheld applications that require position measurement.
This 7mm x 7mm device integrates the main functional modules required for precise measurement of the position, including burst signal control (pulse transmission), analog echo reception, digital signal processing, and a microcontroller. This advanced integrated architecture reduces system cost and facilitates sensor installation.
The MAXQ7667 has a programmable burst frequency generator that is used to compensate the tolerance of the transmitter, adjust the frequency according to temperature, and implement diagnostic functions. Programmable burst signal and duty cycle can optimize power according to environmental conditions. The echo receive path includes a variable gain amplifier, a 16-bit sigma-delta ADC, a digital bandpass filter for eliminating OOB (out-of-band noise), and a digital demodulator with low-pass filtering to construct the echo Wave envelope. The echo detection is realized by a 16-bit threshold detector that can generate interrupts. The threshold and hysteresis level of this detector are programmable. This microcontroller can be used for further signal processing or as a threshold detector.
The integrated 16-bit, 16MIPS microprocessor supports 32KB flash memory, 4KB data RAM and 8KB fixed-use ROM. The microcontroller can be programmed to dynamically optimize parameters, adjust the threshold according to time and noise, optimize the frequency to achieve matching with the transmitter, and adjust the power and threshold according to the target position. Other features include a general-purpose ADC for diagnostics and temperature measurement, LIN-compatible UART with addressing function, three general-purpose timers with interrupt function, a system timer, general-purpose I / O with interrupt function, And single power supply mode.
The MAXQ7667 is available in a space-saving 48-pin LQFP package and operates over the -40 Â° C to + 125 Â° C automotive temperature range. The chips start at $ 8.00 (starting at 1,000, US FOB).
